JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE), Bangalore was established in 1997 under JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, one of Karnataka’s oldest educational trusts. The college sits on a 21.17-acre campus on Uttarahalli-Kengeri Main Road in south-western Bengaluru, close to Kengeri satellite town and RR Nagar. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is not autonomous, so VTU sets the syllabus and conducts the examinations.

JSSATE is approved by AICTE, recognised under UGC 2(f), and accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade (awarded 2022). Its undergraduate programmes are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). In NIRF 2025 the college was placed in the 201-300 band for engineering, after ranking in the 151-200 range in earlier cycles.

Courses and branches

JSSATE offers the four-year B.E. across eight branches, along with M.Tech, MBA, MCA and Ph.D. programmes. Around 800-900 students are admitted to B.E. each year. B.E. branches include:

Eligibility

For B.E. admission, candidates need a pass in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Biology or Biotechnology, and at least 45% aggregate in these subjects (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Karnataka). A valid KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE Main rank is required for the respective admission channel, including for management quota seats.

Admission routes at JSSATE

1. KCET (government quota)

Around 45% of B.E. seats are filled through KEA counselling using KCET ranks. This is the least expensive route into JSSATE for Karnataka candidates.

2. COMEDK UGET and JEE Main

About 30% of seats go through COMEDK counselling, open to students from any state. JEE Main ranks are also accepted for some private seats.

3. Management quota

JSSATE fills a share of seats directly through management quota. Applicants still need a valid KCET, COMEDK or JEE Main rank, and fees are considerably higher than the KCET route, especially for CSE, AI&ML and Data Science branches.
