About the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Jain University

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) is the engineering school of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), which traces back to Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, founded in 1990, and was granted deemed-university status by the UGC in 2008. FET was established in 2005 and is based at the JAIN Global Campus, a 350-acre site at Jakkasandra, on Kanakapura Main Road in Ramanagara district, about 45 km from central Bengaluru.

As a UGC deemed-to-be university, Jain sets its own syllabus and conducts its own examinations rather than following VTU. FET is approved by AICTE, has NBA-accredited programmes, and Jain University holds a NAAC A+ grade. In NIRF 2025, Jain University was ranked 62nd nationally in the Engineering category and placed in the 101-150 band overall.

Courses and branches

FET offers the four-year B.Tech across roughly 32 specialisations, along with M.Tech. B.Tech branches include:

Eligibility

For B.Tech, candidates need a pass in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology or Biology, and at least 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST candidates). IB and Cambridge board students have separate minimum-credit requirements. Admission is based on JET (Jain Entrance Test), JEE Main, COMEDK or KCET scores.

1. JET (Jain Entrance Test)

JET is the university’s own entrance test and the primary admission route, combining an online written test with merit-based counselling.

2. JEE Main, COMEDK and KCET

Students with a valid JEE Main, COMEDK UGET or KCET score can also be considered for admission without sitting JET separately.

3. Management quota

Jain FET admission and cutoffs

Jain University does not publicly disclose branch-wise KCET or COMEDK closing ranks for its B.Tech programmes the way VTU colleges do.
