About Dayananda Sagar University

Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) was established in 2014 as a private university under the Dayananda Sagar group, which also runs the older VTU-affiliated Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. DSU’s main residential campus is a 130-acre site at Devarakaggalahalli, Harohalli, on Kanakapura Road, about 40 km south-west of central Bengaluru; it also runs a City Innovation Campus on Hosur Road for management and other non-engineering schools.

As a private university, DSU sets its own syllabus and is not affiliated to VTU. It is recognised by the UGC, approved by AICTE, and accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade. DSU’s School of Engineering has appeared in NIRF placement disclosures for Engineering in recent cycles.

Courses and branches

DSU offers a four-year B.Tech across a wide range of specialisations at its Harohalli campus, along with M.Tech, MBA and other postgraduate programmes at both campuses. B.Tech branches include:

  • Computer Science and Engineering, CSE (AI & Data Science), CSE (AI & Machine Learning) and CSE (Cyber Security)
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering

Eligibility

For B.Tech, candidates need a pass in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, plus one other science subject, and at least 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Karnataka). DSU accepts its own DSAT score, JEE Main, COMEDK UGET, KCET and Uni-GAUGE scores.

Admission routes at DSU

1. KCET

Karnataka-domicile candidates with a KCET rank can secure a seat through KEA counselling. This is DSU’s lowest-fee route, at around ₹1-1.2 lakh per year.

2. COMEDK UGET, JEE Main and Uni-GAUGE

Students from any state can apply through COMEDK counselling, a JEE Main rank, or Uni-GAUGE, DSU’s own centralised admission test used across several private universities.

3. DSAT and management quota

DSU runs its own entrance test, DSAT (Dayananda Sagar Admission Test), and also fills unfilled seats through a transparent management/direct quota. Fees on these routes are significantly higher than KCET seats. Call +91 76760 80008 for updated fee and seat details.

DSU fee structure

DSU’s fees vary sharply between the KCET quota and its other admission routes.

Figures vary by source and year; ask the placement cell for the latest branch-wise data.

Campus and location

The 130-acre main campus at Devarakaggalahalli, Harohalli, sits on Kanakapura Road, about 40 km from central Bengaluru and roughly 46 km from Kempegowda International Airport. This is a residential campus well outside the city, so day scholars should plan for a long commute or hostel stay. The City Innovation Campus on Hosur Road, closer to the city, houses non-engineering schools.

Is DSU right for you?

DSU suits Karnataka students with a KCET rank who want a private-university degree at a relatively low KCET fee, and out-of-state students comfortable with premium fees for the COMEDK/JEE/DSAT routes. If commute matters, weigh the Harohalli location against in-city colleges. The college comparison tool shows fees and cutoffs side by side.
