Why students choose Dr. AIT
Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (Dr. AIT) was established in 1980 by the Panchajanya Vidya Peetha Welfare Trust and named in honour of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The college sits on the Outer Ring Road at Mallathahalli, near the Bangalore University Jnanabharathi campus in west Bengaluru. Dr. AIT holds government-aided status, which keeps its KCET-quota tuition at the same rate as top aided colleges in Karnataka, and has been autonomous since 2010 while remaining affiliated to VTU.
Dr. AIT is approved by AICTE, NBA-accredited for eligible programmes, and accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade. It has appeared in the NIRF Engineering 151-200 band (ranked 163 in one recent cycle) and has run World Bank TEQIP grant phases across its history.
Courses and branches
Dr. AIT offers the four-year B.E. across around 14 branches, one of the broader branch lists among government-aided colleges, along with M.Tech and MBA programmes. B.E. branches include:
- Computer Science and Engineering, CSE (AI & ML) and CSE (Data Science)
- Information Science and Engineering
- Electronics and Communication (including VLSI focus), and Electrical and Electronics
- Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering
Eligibility
For B.E., candidates need a pass in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, with at least 45% aggregate. A valid KCET or COMEDK UGET rank is required for the respective route.
