Almost every B.E. seat in a Bangalore engineering college is filled through one of three entrance exams, or through the management quota. Which exam you write decides which colleges and which fee bracket are open to you, so it is worth understanding the differences before you apply.

Which exam should you write?
KCET is for Karnataka candidates and leads to government quota seats, which carry the lowest tuition fee of any route. Competition is correspondingly tight, especially for computer science at the older autonomous colleges.
COMEDK UGET is open to students from any state and covers private and autonomous colleges across Karnataka. Fees are higher than the KCET quota, but the rank required is usually more forgiving.
JEE Main matters most for the NITs and IIITs, but a good number of Bangalore colleges also accept a JEE Main rank for a share of their seats, so it works as a supplementary route alongside KCET or COMEDK.
Most students write more than one. Sitting KCET and COMEDK in the same year, for example, roughly doubles the number of colleges you can realistically reach.
What about management quota?
Management quota seats sit outside the counselling process and are handled by each college’s own admission office. Most colleges still ask for a current-year KCET, COMEDK or JEE Main rank as an eligibility check, along with minimum Class 10, 11 and 12 marks, so an entrance exam is rarely something you can skip entirely. Fees vary sharply by branch and are revised every year.
