About Ramaiah Institute of Technology

Ramaiah Institute of Technology (RIT), still widely known as MSRIT or M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, was founded in 1962 by M. S. Ramaiah. It was the first institution set up by the Gokula Education Foundation, which now runs a group of colleges and a hospital in the same area. The campus is in MSR Nagar, Mathikere, in north Bengaluru.

MSRIT is an autonomous college affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). It is approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade. In NIRF 2025 it ranked 75th in engineering and 31st in architecture and planning.

Courses and branches

MSRIT offers B.E., B.Arch, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Arch and Ph.D. programmes. Computer Science and Engineering is the flagship B.E. branch. B.E. branches include:

Eligibility

For B.E., candidates need a pass in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics, plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics. The minimum is 45% aggregate in these subjects, or 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates of Karnataka. A valid KCET or COMEDK UGET rank is needed for counselling seats.

Admission routes at MSRIT

1. KCET (government quota)

Karnataka students are allotted seats through KEA counselling based on KCET ranks. This is the lowest-fee route and the most competitive, especially for CSE and related branches.

2. COMEDK UGET

Students from any state can apply through COMEDK counselling. The fee is higher than for KCET seats.

3. Management quota

Campus and location

The campus is in MSR Nagar, off New BEL Road in Mathikere, north Bengaluru. It is close to Yeshwantpur, Malleshwaram and the Ramaiah hospital. Facilities include separate hostels for boys and girls, sports grounds, a gym, libraries, and auditoriums in each academic block. The college’s student motorsport team, Velocita Racing, competes in national Formula-student events.
