About Bangalore Institute of Technology

Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) was established in 1979 under the Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha (RVS), a long-standing Karnataka educational trust. The college sits on K.R. Road in V.V. Puram, in central Bengaluru, close to Basavanagudi and the city’s commercial core. BIT is a government-aided, private institution affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), and was granted autonomous status in 2023, letting it frame its own curriculum while VTU confers the degree.

BIT is approved by AICTE and accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade, with NBA accreditation for eligible programmes. It has appeared in the NIRF 251-300 band for engineering in past cycles; check the latest NIRF disclosure for the current figure.

Courses and branches

BIT offers the four-year B.E. across around 13 branches, along with M.Tech, MBA, MCA and Ph.D. programmes. B.E. branches include:

  • Computer Science and Engineering, and CSE (AI & ML)
  • Information Science and Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication, and Electrical and Electronics
  • Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering

Eligibility

For B.E., candidates need a pass in 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics, and at least 45% aggregate. A valid KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE Main rank is required for the respective route.

Admission routes at BIT

1. KCET (government quota)

Around 45% of seats go to Karnataka candidates through KEA counselling using KCET ranks. This is BIT’s lowest-fee route.

2. COMEDK UGET

About 30% of seats are filled through COMEDK counselling, open to students from any state.

3. Management quota

The remaining share of seats is filled through management quota, with fees considerably higher than the KCET route. Call +91 76760 80008 for updated fee and seat details.

BIT suits students with ranks that narrowly miss the top-3 Bangalore colleges (RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT) but are well above the mid-tier, who want a central city location and a four-decade placement track record. The college comparison tool shows fees and cutoffs side by side.
