SJBIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and has been granted autonomous status, letting it design elements of its own curriculum while VTU confers the degree.
SJBIT is approved by AICTE, recognised by UGC, and accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade, with NBA-accredited programmes. It has appeared in the NIRF 251 band for engineering and the 101 band for NIRF Innovation in recent cycles.

SJBIT offers the four-year B.E. across 8 specialisations, along with M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D. programmes. B.E. branches include:
- Computer Science and Engineering, CSE (AI & ML) and CSE (Data Science)
